Wisdom Hospice Shops gives supporters a sustainable and ethical way in which they can support their local Hospice by donating pre-loved items. Every day our High Street shops and online outlets are able to raise vital funds which help support the running costs of the Wisdom Hospice. The Hospice, which is based in Rochester Kent, serves the communities for adult palliative care for Medway and Swale. This is a Free service for all in their time of need.
Did you know that our shops combined sell nearly 100,000 items each year that may well have gone to landfill!
Half of this amount is clothing items! We also recycle any unsaleable items.

Donations
If you have a large donation of pre-loved items that you wish to donate, i.e. a carload. We ask that you contact your nearest shop to arrange a convenient drop off time.
DONATIONS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE HOSPICE

What we are doing to keep you safe?
We will be limiting the numbers of staff and shoppers in our shops at any one time.
We have also fitted till screens to keep you safe. In addition, please follow these guidelines;
All shoppers will be asked to sanitise their hands when entering our shops
Contactless payments are preferred but cash is accepted at all stores
Shops will be deep cleaned at the end of each day. Till screens have been fitted for staff safety

Gift Aid
If you’re a UK taxpayer, your donations could be worth 25% extra to the Wisdom Hospice at no cost to you!
Gift Aid is a scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, which means your donations will be worth 25% more to us at no extra cost to you.
If you Gift Aid your donations we can claim back from the government 25p for every £1 you donate to The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice.
This additional income really does make a big difference, so please don’t forget to Gift Aid donations if you are a UK taxpayer.

Volunteer at our Shops
We need enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to help maximise sales, which will help to fund the running of the hospice.
Tasks may include:
- Sorting clothes
- Serving customers
- Pricing goods
- Cleaning & preparing goods for sale
- Creating window displays
Training will be provided, and time commitment is flexible. We will also be able to provide a reference to prospective employers.
This is a great opportunity to gain and develop your experience in the competitive retail sector, make new friends, and help The Wisdom Hospice provide specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting conditions.
