Lights for Love 2020
December 4 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join our Remembrance Service online this year
Just before Christmas last year, more than 600 people, of all faiths and of none, joined The Friends at Rochester Cathedral for our annual “Lights for Love” service, held to remember those who have been nursed at the end of their life in the tender care of the Wisdom Hospice team. Similar events were held in Sittingbourne and Sheppey.
Not this year.
The Covid-19 outbreak and the restrictions imposed to help combat it
mean that a big Cathedral service is just not possible. Our smaller events have also had to be cancelled.
However, we are determined to ensure that our “Lights for Love” service will still be there for you. We are taking it online and inviting you to join with us from your homes.
The event will take a similar form to previous years and the service remains what it has always been - a chance to celebrate and remember what we loved about the people we lost, give thanks for their place in our lives - and give thanks, too, for the support provided by Wisdom Hospice to those whose lives are drawing to a close and to their families.
In a year when the Wisdom Hospice has been under pressure as never before, when our major fundraising events have had to be cancelled and when our charity shops were closed for months on end, The Friends remain determined to fulfil the promises we have made to support both the Hospice and the community it serves.
Please will you, once again, support us.
This years Service
This years’ service will be available online on from Friday 4th December at 6 pm.
• If you are unable to watch with us then, you, your family and friends will be able to view our service at any time and for as many times as you like from our website here
• If you do not have access to the internet, we can send you a DVD after the service.
• When you return your dedication form you will receive your order of service which will include prayers, readings, and Christmas carols.
As always, you will be able to make a donation and dedication to someone special that you wish to remember. This year we are developing an online book of remembrance which you will be able to access through our website.
The lights of Christmas, light up the dark nights. These lights, wherever you are, will symbolise our love for someone special. Following your donation and dedication, we will send you a star to hang on your tree as another way to remember that special person.
It is thanks to your donations that the Hospice can help their patients throughout the year and not just at Christmas.
Thank you for your support.
May we wish you a Very Merry Christmas and Peaceful New Year.
